Before you begin

Work on a clean, trusted computer or mobile device and have a pen and paper ready for your wallet backup. Confirm your package shows no signs of tampering and keep the original packaging until setup is complete.

Step-by-step: Starting up with Trezor.io/Start®

1. Connect your device. Plug your Trezor® into your computer or pair with your phone following the included instructions.
2. Open the official start page. Visit the official Trezor start portal at Trezor.io/Start® to download Trezor Suite or to use the guided web setup.
3. Install firmware if prompted. Your device may ship without firmware — follow the prompts in Trezor Suite to install the latest firmware before proceeding.
4. Create a new wallet. Use the on-device prompts to initialize a new wallet. The device will generate a recovery backup (often called a recovery seed or wallet backup) — write this down on paper and store it securely; do not share it and do not store it digitally.
5. Set a PIN. Choose a PIN you can remember but that others cannot guess. The PIN protects access to the device if it is lost or stolen.
6. Verify your device. Always confirm the device displays match what the Trezor Suite (or guided setup) shows on your computer. This prevents man-in-the-middle or phishing attacks.
7. Transfer assets. Once you see a successful setup and test transaction, move a small amount first to confirm everything works before transferring larger balances.

Tips & safety reminders

Never enter your recovery seed into a website, app, or chat. If you suspect tampering or you encounter unexpected prompts asking for a recovery phrase, stop and contact official Trezor support. Keep firmware up to date and verify downloads against official release notes when possible.
